History: First run in 1866, mainly a 3200m event until 2007 when the distance was changed to 2400m (or 2200m when held at Doomben) and race was downgraded from Group 1 to Group 2. 2008 winner Viewed went on to win the Melbourne Cup in the same year. Champion winners include Tulloch (1961), Balmerino (1976), Desert Chill (1995 & 1997), Viewed (2008), Scenic Shot (2009)
Lead Up Form: Doomben Cup (2020m) & PJ O'Shea Stakes (Eagle Farm 2200m), Prmiers Cup (2200m)
Support races: JJ Atkins, Stradbroke Hcp & QLD Derby
Track Bias, Barriers: Barriers of little importance, Eagle Farm is a very fair course and there is little bias in this race due to the distance involved. Rated a Quality so lower weighted horses may have an advantage, particularly if the going is soft.
