Doomben Barriers Starting Positions:
1010m: Begins at the back of the course with a short run before a long sweeping turn into the home straight. Inside barriers are a distinct advantage.
1100m & 1200m: Located on the course proper in the back straight. Short straight run before the first turn, inside barrers have a big advantage.
1350m: Begins in a short chute of the back straight. Straight run of 450m to the first turn, inside barriers have a slight advantage, more so when the rail is out.
1615m: Begins in a small chute off the back of the course proper on the left side of the course. Straight run of around 200m before a long turn into the back straight, barriers are not important.
2020m & 2100m: Located in the home straight, runners have a straight run before the first turn. Inside barriers are a slight advantage.
2200m: Barriers are placed in a small chute at the top of the home straight, barriers are of no importance.
Circumference is 1715 metres, length of the home straight is 314 metres. Horses race in a clockwise direction.
Characteristics: a small tight turning course with sharp corners. Front runners have an advantage although it is possible to make up ground late in longer distance events.
Racing at Doomben is governed by the Brisbane Racing Club. Located about 7kms from the centre of Brisbane, close to Eagle Farm Racecourse.
