Top Racing Links:
Ipswich Race 7 Ipswich Cup Listed Hcp 2150m.
Voila Ici tops the weights and the betting sheets, certainly has the class to be competitive but may find other lighter weighted competitors will be better placed on a wet track and also has a wide gate to contend with. Planetarium is suited at this distance and well weighted, should be well placed in the run from the inside gate. Za Magic was only beaten a half head by Planetarium last start and meets him at level weights here, Kiwi High Kin has good form around this distance and won’t mind soft going, usually races back in the pack and can finish on late.
Summary: Planetarium ahead of Voila Ici, place chances Za Magic and High Kin.
Ipswich Race 8 Eye Liner Stakes Listed Hcp 1350m.
Dances On Stars was beaten a long neck in the QLD Guineas at big odds, bookies aren’t taking similar chances here and he should be in the finish in this easier grade. The handicapper hasn’t missed Conservatorium, will also find this easier than his last start and is drawn to race on the speed, the final 100m could find him out with the weight. Gundy Son will be fitter now third up, this is his ideal distance and can handle all types of going. Morning Captain ran wide last start, with a bit more concentration he can get into the finish but would want it any worse than Slow.
Summary: Dances On Stars on top, include Conservatorium, Gundy Son and Morning Captain in the multiples.
Moonee Valley Race 6 The Dominant Handicap 1500m.
Digitalism looks like the top chance in this with a last run win at the Valley, a good draw, and a win or place on all types of going. Del Palio is a last start winner on a slow track at Sale and should be at least a place chance. Felidea and Puretan look like the next best chances to place although their wider draws may not help if they are racing at the back as they come into the home straight.
Summary: Digitalism on top with Del Palio, Felidea and Puretan to fight out the placings in your exotic bets.
Moonee Valley Race 7 The Printhouse Graphics Handicap, 2040m.
De Fine Lago gets his chance with a good draw and not too much weight, a good record at the track and ability on all types of going. Mr O’Ceirin hasn’t won for a year and carries top weight but his last run showed some promise of a return to form, he’s the class runner in the field and could be in the finish here at his favourite distance. Alrouz has to be taken seriously with a win at the track & distance 10 days ago on a Slow track, he is drawn to lead again and could give them something to chase with only 51kg after the claim. Secessio has the ‘visitors draw’ but should still be a chance to get into the placings and coming from the Chris Waller Stables deserves to be kept a watch on for at least a place.
Summary: De Fine Lago & Alrouz on top, Mr O’Ceirin & Secessio for the multiples.
