History: First run in 1881, distance was adjusted to 1200m in 1973 and elevated to Group One Status in 1980. Run under handicap conditons until 2007 when known as the Goodwood Handicap, now with set weight conditions is officially The Goodwood.

The Track: Morphettville has two tracks, the Allan Scott is the original track at this course. Generally very fair, can favour the on pace runners in short distance races.
Track Bias, Barriers: The 1200m start is positioned at the back of the straight on the left hand side of the course. Runners have a straight run of more than 300m before the turn into the home straight, barriers are of little importance.
Weight, Statistics: Highest weight carried to victory is 58.5kgs by Takeover Target (2009), previously Super Elegant (2004) carried 57kgs when the race was run as a handicap.
